This is My Letter To HIV which I wrote for the campaign on thebody.com.
Dear HIV
I know I blamed everything on you in the beginning and it took some time for me to accept my responsibility in how you came into my life. I could not move on without realizing that all you did was seize the opportunity that I gave you, you walked through the door that I left open. Had I been more careful I would have never had to meet you. But, you're here now and you'll live on my terms, you will not govern the path of my life even though you have to be a part of it. You will not stop me from having relationships, you will not keep me from having fun and you will not take me down. I have made it my mission to keep you away from as many people as the sound of my voice or the stroke of my pen will reach. We will defeat you one day, those of us who speak out have been called for such a time as this. I will continue to educate and advocate, I will march and I will pray until you are just a lesson in the history books. It won't be long now and I see you shivering with fear as your demise is in sight, you and all of your little opportunistic friends.
